- Bruce Crockett came to us with the vision of changing his 2002 Soft Tail Springer match his New Custom Chevy SSR transformed into a "Studebaker truck". Cool Ride I must say. No problem we said. Bruce then said, "We have to have it ready for Daytona". So we have 5 days. We'll need some help, so I requested that Bruce help. Owner of a body shop Bruce brought his son Nick and another body shop man to help sand and prep. Bruce then said, "Can we put those cool flush mount pop-up gas caps and weld in bungs in this tank. We'll why the hell not! We only have 4 days now, so I cut his out, after really cleaning the tank out and letting Bruce hold a lighter over the filler caps see if the tank would blow-up on him and not me.
- I looked at the rear fender and decided to flush mount the tail light and paint over it so it would look like there's no light until the switch is on. Let's ad a little more work since we're limited on time. Nothing a little Red Bull can't take care of.
- After prep and primer we put a base coat what Nick calls Taxi Cab Yellow. Since Bruce's son Nick wanted to learn some custom painting techniques we let him do allot of the tapping, cutting and painting. It will not take him long to learn since he already has the knowledge of prep, primer, paint and polishing. We then did some orange, passion pink and purple with some black and white checker flag ribbons. Bruce and my daughter Mattison cleaned the bike and all the chrome while the painting was going on. After 5 long nights of midnight to 1am work we finished in time for the bike to be loaded on the truck to Daytona.
- Now Bruce has his 2 cool matching sleds . Nice job with the help of some good friends and a little hard work.
